Kovacic, who played alongside Gvardiol at the 2022 World Cup, has expressed his support for the move, citing Gvardiol’s readiness to take the next step in his career.

“Of course, I’d like [Gvardiol] to join. He’s very young and has great potential. He can come here and learn and be the best version of himself like he wants to be.”

Gvardiol, a left-footed defender who excels at centre-back and left-back positions, has shown remarkable growth during his time at Leipzig and with the Croatian national team.

While Gvardiol has expressed his desire to join Manchester City, Leipzig is not under financial pressure to sell him, thanks to the £60.2m they received from Liverpool for Dominik Szoboszlai.
