Brazil Considers Appointing Carlo Ancelotti’s Son Davide Ancelotti for Coaching Role in National Team
The Brazilian Football Association (CBF) is currently exploring the possibility of appointing Davide Ancelotti, son of Carlo Ancelotti, as part of the coaching staff for the national team. This move is intended to facilitate a smooth transition while awaiting Carlo Ancelotti’s potential appointment as the head coach in June 2024.
CBF’s Preferred Choice
Ednaldo Rodrigues, the President of CBF, has repeatedly expressed his preference for Carlo Ancelotti to lead the Brazilian national team following Tite’s departure after the 2022 World Cup. However, Ancelotti, who currently manages Real Madrid, has stated his intention to honour his existing contract, which has one year remaining.
Sources familiar with the matter informed ESPN Brazil that the CBF is actively considering strategies to manage the interim period. One option being explored is appointing Davide Ancelotti, who presently serves as his father’s assistant at Real Madrid, to work alongside Brazil’s interim manager, Ramon Menezes, during this time.
Sources close to Ancelotti have shared with ESPN that they do not rule out the possibility of the Italian taking charge of the Brazilian national team when his contract with Real Madrid expires in June 2024. A meeting to discuss this situation is scheduled to take place at the end of this month.

Brazil has already played friendlies against Morocco and Guinea, securing a 4-1 victory in Barcelona on Saturday. On Tuesday, they are set to face Senegal. Between September and November 2023, Brazil is scheduled to play six World Cup qualifying matches before taking a break until September 2024.
